Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson has announced that she has decided to apply for NATO membership with Finland despite Russia’s threats.
The move comes just hours after the Finnish government decided to apply for NATO membership.

Russia and Finland, which have been militarily neutral, have been pressured by the Russian government not to join NATO, but today both countries announced their intention to abandon their neutrality and apply for NATO membership.
Yesterday, the Russian government put pressure on Finland to suspend gas exports. However, the Finnish government has said it is preparing for a nuclear war and has not considered gas shutdowns and is fully prepared for national security. The Swedish government has said it is not an easy decision and will only make a decision after careful preparation.
