Indian Foreign Ministry officials say Wunna Maung Lwin will not be invited to the India-ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting in June. According to the principles set by ASEAN, only the Foreign Ministry has informed Secretary Chan Aye to attend.
Some ASEAN countries and the United States have strongly objected to Wunna Maung Lwin’s online invitation to the BIMSTEC conference in March.
An Indian foreign ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Wunna Maung Lwin would not be invited to the meeting because of possible protests by Asean members. He is expected to respond to the Indian Foreign Minister’s letter today.
